new medium

After a trip to Jeff's cousin's sheep farm to purchase some wool roving I started needling it.
Needle felting is art of taking the fibers (wool, combed-out yarns, fiberfill....) and stabbing it over and over with a barbed needle. The barbs catch the fibers and "felt" them into other fibers.
My goal is to learn how to use this medium and technique to make sculptures.

This is my very first needle felted item....
a rabbit head...... he is made with polyester fiberfill stuffing (a lot cheaper than wool and makes a good base (core) for the sculpture.... and wool roving from one of Deb and Doug's sheep that was dyed with summac berries last summer.

Hi Kim, you found me!!! The rabbit is wonderful for your first time...I'm really loving all the little felted things people are creating. Thanks for becoming a follower of my blog.
